Routing the Cable to install a EcoFlow 800w Alternator Charger

It does allow for reverse charging, I did it although to the aux battery at the back.
Hello and thank you for the reply.

In fact, I would like to be able to do reverse charging on the engine battery in case it is completely discharged because I often travel to fairly remote and isolated areas. In that case, I have no other choice than to connect it to the engine battery?

As It's quite a hassle to pull the cables to the engine bay I would hook it up to the aux battery first and check as it's very easy to do if you don't have to mount it permanently just for the test.

Dans ce cas, comment puis-je savoir si le courant est envoyé à la batterie du moteur et non à la batterie auxiliaire ?

Hmm, yes that's a good question, I suppose you need to attach a volt meter to the starter battery and observe the voltage rise.

Hello, I would like to connect my Ecoflow alternator charger to the engine compartment battery because I don’t think connecting it to the auxiliary battery under the seat would allow reverse charging. Could you tell me where you routed the cable from the engine compartment?
There is already a connection to the starter battery in the engine bay connected to the charging relay under the front seat (passenger side on UK vehicles). So you could easily tap off that connection. But be aware of load on the cable. I would probably avoid charging at full 800w if using that option.

Reverse charging starter battery when connecting to the leisure batteries won’t work. The relay only activates when the engine is running.. which is not possible if the starter battery is flat lol

thanks you so i have to connect it to the engine battery to use reverse charge then ?

Connect to leisure battery in the rear of the bus… works a treat …

Oui, mais je ne pourrai pas utiliser la charge inversée pour recharger la batterie de mon moteur si elle est à plat ?

Yes, but I won't be able to use reverse charging to recharge my engine battery if it's flat?

Reverse Charge will ONLY reverse charge the battery that the Alternator Charger is connected to, with one slight exception: If you have two leisure batteries in your California, VW wires them together so they are kept in sync and seen as one battery, so connecting the Alternator Charger to either of them, will allow Reverse Charging to charge both of them simultaneously.

And yes, if you connect your Alternator Charger to either leisure battery, you will not be able to recharge your engine battery if it's flat, at least not from the Alternator Charger.

You could just bring an AC car charger with a 240V plug on it, and plug that it into the Delta to charge your engine battery if it's flat.

Installed mine today (2024 UK Ocean). Found a pretty decent mounting point under the drivers seat and routed the cable under the carpet to the passenger seat for connecting to to the van.

Nothing drilled. Made use of existing holes to mount. The power switch is nicely located by popping off the rear seat frame cover and the ecoflow cable routes nicely through the front opening and to a delta2 between the seats.

Thank you so much for these detailed instructions! I followed all the steps. The idea of reusing the holes under the right seat was great. The most difficult was passing the cable between the 2 seats. I was surprised that reverse charge did not work but I realized that I didn't have the right cable for that, e.g. XT150.

Nice one! Yes if I remember correctly I had to remove the leisure battery and loosen off both seat frames to get the cable to comfortably route from one side to the other.

All hides away neatly when done though!

so u did not connect to the primary battery and reverse charge working'?

if you have the 800w version to can reverse charge which ever battery you connect it to. Starter or leisure. But you decide on installation.

Charging your EcoFlow doesn’t matter which battery you connect it to. It will still work when the van alternator is charging the batteries.

it's working for the 500w version, i have it.. but my question was in your case, your reverse charge will go to the leisure battery and not the primary one in case this one will be out of charge

Ah. You must have purchased the xt150 cable?

So yes. In my case I can only reverse charge the leisure batteries.

However if you wanted to connect to starter battery instead (so that you can reverse charge starter battery only) you should be able to do this from the wiring under the seat also. Just connect the EAC to starter battery feed on the factory split charger (just be careful not to overload the cable).

Yes, i purchase the xt150 :)

I already pass the cable to the primary battery, it was a little bit difficult but that work perfectly, i cannot share video here

Ah sorry! I just realised your pictures above!
