Software Update

So they say but you’ll need to disconnect the seat electrics and risk airbag alerts etc.
I’ll wait for someone else to try first.
Apparently changing your starter battery is now a dealer trip!
No, you pull back the carpet and the cover plate is in the actual footwell. It is on my Hybrid Multivan.

There are lots of Do Not Touch warnings in Handbook regarding the 12v battery on the Hybrid in relation to the EV system.
Jump starting is involved and utilises remote +tve and -tve connections in the engine bay.
The 12v batt6is charged by both the IC engine when running and the EV battery charging system when charging.

I want to put a shunt and data logger on it to figure out how much power is being consumed. The California app shows
The short version of this story is that we rejected our new T7 after 4 days after a complete failure of the rear electrical system - the diagnosis being DC/DC convertor failure in the rear control system - and a software issue.

We were due to pick up a replacement (identical vehicle) on Saturday - but got a call on sat morning to say that the vehicle (which had been on charge overnight) had thrown up the hook up cable connected message when it wasn't connected and the rear batteries weren't charging. Disappointed is an understatement.

However, after many discussions with the dealer, it would appear that the much publicised 'software update' for the rear control module has been released by VW this morning - so the dealer is applying that as I type this, in the hope that I can get this new van this week.
I haven’t had the issues that people are reporting but did have to do a major software update when I picked the van up.
Is it useful for people to see which software and hardware versions we are running?
I did a check today and these are my versions;
Device part number: 572035816B
Hardware: H10
Software: 2632
Display unit/control panel hardware: H49
Display unit/control panel software: 2112
Navigation database: 25.5
Radio database: 1.31.52

I did see there is an update for the California app.

That’s useful. I’m not sure the vehicle reports the California Electronic Control module? I wish it did!

I just checked my System Configuration on my Multivan. It’s different to yours but I noticed the Navigation Database had updated from 25.1 to 25.5 automatically with no intervention from me .

Everything these days is overly complicated and relies on software....bring back carburettors, points and distributor caps. And mandraulic windows!

Some news!

Dealer has 6 vehicles with the same problem - including a new PHEV demonstrator on loan from VW Group!

Software is definitely on its way - and it’s alleged a significant build, not a patch - to be delivered week 28 (2nd week of July); dealer has been really great. Put us in a T6.1 until ours is ready - and fixed. And we have agreed a compensation deal with VW through the dealer.

So, for now we wait. Off on holiday next week in the T6.1 - we’ll have fun regardless!
Is this a dealer software update or done at home via the vehicle WiFi ?

…… and family time on the hard shoulder, trips together on the back of recovery trucks etc.
I love all the tech, once we got rid of maps in cars life got a lot easier.
