The switch to renewables is actually becoming an economic runaway train. Especially in developing nations where solar is a brilliant distributed small scale generator. He's not wrong. Half the planet is dependant on fossil fuels without any emissions control and that won't be changing for many years. Also you have skated over the very significant environmental pollution from the production of ev / storage batteries, motors and solar panels. But of course that is not taking place in the western world. Out of sight, out of mind.
Also save me the ‘just think of the victims of mining in other countries’ as you type this out on your phone/laptop which uses many of the same resources to produce.
All vehicles take huge amount of mined resources. So yes @andyinluton they are luxuries we are privileged to have. And no dude I’m not getting into a ludicrous discussion about what I personally do or don’t do to minimise my impact on the planet in a thread where we’re talking on the level of social and systemic change.
