Just about to leave site for home, but the roof won't close.

Have accessed the diagnostics and it reports error 1000, and says PRESS ESC 58 to clear.

Does anybody know how I can clear this error code?

Thanks,

Chris

I don’t know the solution, but, Have you tried a quick search against “roof error 1000” there seem a few forum threads there - good luck :)

As you have a T7 I'm afraid I can't help.
You could try starting the engine and even moving forward or backwards a few feet and try the roof controls again.
Failing that phone VW Assistance.

As WG....my Burstner gallery went into error mode (alarm) due to insufficient leisure battery to allow operation. Ran the engine for 5mins, cleared the error and dropped the roof so all good.

If you need the roof down, you can manually lower it by turning the bleed screw I the back

Thanks for your responses. After faffing around changing the fuse and trying to clear the error codes, I decided to take the roof down manually.

Dylan on this forum posted an item called "Emergency Roof Closure" which I followed (excellent images) and after getting access to the screw in question it did the trick and brought the roof down, which I then secured with the tie downs. Only thing is you have to turn that screw a hell of a lot of times before the lowering springs into action.

I guess I'll be ordering the sensors now if only to stop the incessant error beeping!!

Need to update my avatar to T5.1.

The importance of having the correct vehicle information.
If I had known you had a T5.1, then I could have told you how to clear the error.

Hi WG - is it possible to clear the error, and if so how? Thanks. I'm assuming at least one of the sensors needs replacing?

Check Control Panel Diagnostics. T5/6

Control Panel Off and wait 30 secs

Control Panel On

IF ROOF UP THEN CANNOT SWITCH OFF CONTROL PANEL SO PROCEED.

Press and Hold R lower button and then press Control Knob for 5 secs.

New Hidden Menu . Scroll to VW Diagnostics.

If there are any codes shown, take note and then Reset/Clear, Pressing R lower button.

Return to Main Menu.

Switch Off Control Panel using L lower button. Wait 30 secs and Switch On.

Try Roof/Heater or Fridge

As you have already lowered roof this may not work.

Quick update...I managed to clear the error (with roof down), enabling me to raise the roof normally. However it wouldn't close normally. But this is good news in a sense, because I can at least raise the roof to access the sensors without having to faff around applying 12v power to the pump.

Thanks again.

Looking for a little help here. Having successfully lowered the roof manually, I re-tightening the hydraulic pressure release screw and put the control panel back, but on inspection this morning the roof had raised itself overnight discarding the roof ties in the process!

I tried to lower it again manually but it only came down partially, one side much lower than the other.

I'm now in the process of trying to find the connector to the pump in order to control it with a 12v lead connection, but I can't find the connector to the pump to disengage it. I've peeled away most of the orange foam I can see but still can't see it. Is it even further to the left? And if so how is it accessed as there seems to be a black plastic frame bit in the way?

Thanks.

Thanks again WG. Seeing a photo of the original part is great. I now now what it is I'm looking for under the orange foam.

You don't need to search. Its plugged into back of Control Panel.
