Hello. I just had this alert pop up. The emergency call button seems to be still working. But I don’t know how to clear the warning.

Has anyone had this? Thanks

I plugged in an odb2 scanner and there are no codes. Also watched a video where the guy holds down the call button until it clears. No luck with that.

Spoke with a VW dealer and they reckon there was a software update to disable the 3g/4g for the SOS module. The van's record shows that the software didn't complete properly, so the sensors are complaining.

Booked in for a diagnostic. Out of warranty and no charge as it's VW's buggy software.

Curious to hear if others get this issue as it was caused by an inital OTA update a few days ago,

I had this a few months back. VW replaced the GPS unit under (All-In) warranty. That was nothing to do with software. Just a thought……….

Hopefully, if it is the GPS unit and they already have it in the workshop, I might not be charged two arms and a leg.

Out of interest, when the GPS unit failed, were you able to see the van's location in the VW app. I can see it now

No, but that’s simply because I don’t use the app

Well………. They said it was around £800

Some light reading.

Some light reading.

Very useful! Thanks

Also had this issue early last year on a 2020 ocean. Had issues with the infotainment system since new and vw insisted there were no software updates. Took it in, they fitted a new antenna and installed 3 software updates that had suddenly appeared. Took the best part of 2 days to download at a cost of £450. Still not right, booked in for diagnostics and found one of the downloads hadn't completed. All sorted eventually and we got recompense off vw.

Gotta love VW and their dealers!

On Friday (13th!) I simultaneously got the fault, the email and a call from my garage. They say I have to come in for diagnostics and to install the update (no over the air updates on my coast).

I had to book mine in for a date when they have a loaner car as I need to leave it all day. Looks like this is an expensive software bug for VW.

Yeah I was offered a loaner too which I found surprising for a software update!

Can you let us know how you get on as my appointment isn't for a month.

I got this today, (MY23 Ocean) which took 15 minutes to download part driving then part parked with ignition on:

I failed to photo the initial detailed explanatory screen.

Then I got this:

Which took another 10+ minutes install.

Then system update cleared.

Is this perhaps a cure to the same issue as the original post?

I wonder if this is specific to Coasts / Transporters without the upgraded media systems.

Yes, you mean the Coasts/Transporters need to attend VW for the update rather than the vehicle updating itself. That seems likely.

Subsequently I have also needed to log in again with email and password on the central screen so that the van reconnects to We Connect and/or My Volkswagen and then synchronises. I also had to reset the privacy settings to be sure I got further updates in the future.

Received an email from VW today re this update, telling me to (1) activate online mode and (2) await a notification to download the software.
As far as I know the van is always online (everything in the infotainment unit works) so do I need to do 'something' to prompt the notification to appear?
I've had ignition on and off, driven around a bit, gone through the menus etc but nothing happens. I can't even find a notification screen / option.
Appreciate your help :thanks .

An update. Took van to the dealer.

They told me the sos battery needs replacing and only when the battery has been replaced can they do the software update.

I’m out of warranty but they have said they will not charge me. Something about a factory claim….

Batteries are on back order so still greeted by an orange BEEP when I start the engine.

I will not be happy if I make the 50 mile journey to Liverpool to receive the update to then be told they need to order a battery! If I recall correctly from the T6Forum thread linked earlier there are options to source the battery yourself at low cost - I might start looking into this.

Same for ours Ocean 150. 22MY. SOS error after software update that’s apparently crashed the whole infotainment system and SOS which is all linked. Dealer has an SOS module on back order which has to be swapped before update and then hopefully will get Sat Nav and rain system working again! Diagnosed early January and still waiting!

Yes mine did the same on Saturday, it had already downloaded the software a few weeks ago and all was good after i logged back in etc. But now the SOS fault, road sign camera faut and no life at all from the central screen. Rang VW Assistance and they said either a module or a software issue and that dealer would contact me within 48 hours...still waiting!
