Just push a nail file or something similar through to the square hole on the lid like below and it will do until you get the catch replaced under warranty. These catches are not fit for purpose.

Thanks very much - a very good solution! I wasn’t expecting help. Just a silly post on a nice thread. Sorry everyone.

The solution works well for when we’re away from the van and don’t need to worry about the tape coming loose. It’s a bit ‘diggy’ when making a cup of tea though. I’m on the prowl for something similar, but shorter. I’m hoping Mrs Acer breaks a finger nail. That might do!

I’d read on here about the latches breaking, so wasn’t too surprised. It’s on the growing list for VW in a few weeks.

Better still the sun came out in the afternoon.

Bass Rock in the Firth of Forth. So many Oceans here, I have never seen so many on a site before.
Why is Bass Rock so white? Ask the nesting gulls! Could be the answer to the current fertiliser shortage!

I’m going to guess Tantallon Caravan Park. Nice site with good facilities. Not too far a walk into North Berwick

Very well run site, if u want a lake side pitch book it in advance, as the amount of lake side pitches are limited, there are also riverside pitches. - have a look at the website
