My 2019 California is still running 0278 infotainment software and has H12 hardware. Having a lot of issues with a new iPhone 17 for CarPlay (was fine on previous iPhone 15).
Bit of research tells me I need to get to 0330 software but it's not OTA and needs a dealer trip and a multi-step upgrade path (this has never been done under warranty across multiple visits to the main dealer probably because I never reported issues so I think I have missed the chance). I do have the VW extended warranty for serving etc in place but suspect this would still be a chargeable visit.
I've only just managed to trouble shoot the Privacy reset issue and got the OCU / SOS system working as well as App connectivity with the door unlock/ reset trick etc. As a result I am now installing OU2N (first OTA I have had since purchase) but understand that is just a comms module update.
I'm not sure if following that other updates for this hardware / software combo will become available (does anyone know?).
If not what is the general opinion of self installing via download / USB key? Has anyone here done that or is it a big risk for bricking etc? I'm fairly tech / computer savvy and I've already swapped out the water pump and the batteries without any problems but is this a step too far.....?
