Re this thread, I received an email from Volkswagen on Friday 27th Feb (i.e. last Friday) saying a software update was available for my VW T6.1 California, with reason for the update being related to mobile data providers switching off their 2G and 3G services and potential impact on Emergency Call Services, saying that after the update the Emergency Call service would remain fully intact even after 2G/3G switch-offs.
Acting on the advice given in the email re managing the update I went to my van and despite following instructions (which was basically turn on the ignition and wait for the update "pop-up" to appear and then follow on screen guidance), nothing popped-up and showed no signs of doing so. I therefore went into the system settings in the menu and looked at the software update screen. I've shared a photo. Was it already loaded?? There was nothing pending in the Software update advice on the various mode menu screens either, so no idea.
Given the guidance that it may take a few hours, I wondered if it had already happened, but I haven't driven the van for a while and the guidance said I would have to re-enter my login details (email and password) at the end of the upgrade - I can't recall doing this since I picked the van up from the dealer in 2022 - and I had assumed this was for access to We Connect.
I appreciate
@jhgf sharing the VW Software Updates page - but I couldn't see any reference to an "Emergency Call" mobile network protection software update, so remain confused.
If anyone else has had a similar email / experience, I'd be interested to understand if you did get this software update or you are still waiting for it.
