Servicing in Somerset

We have used the VW van centre in Bristol to replace the rear air con panel, which they did under warranty, and an oil service, which was done FOC under our service plan. So far so good. We also have our Cali booked in for replacing one of the upper bed hinges. They wouldn’t entertain doing the work under warranty, which was disappointing but instead have to stump up £260 or thereabouts. Seems excessive to me but I guess no different to any other VW service centre.

I'm not too far away from you in Bruton. I've got a 2019 T6 California and over the years I've used Mon Motors (previously Heritage) in Bristol, Breeze Poole and SMV Commercials Yeovil. The latter used to be a VW Service Centre however they stopped that side of the business about a year ago. A shame, because out of the 3 although they were a bit rough and ready (the garage handled HGV as well as LGV) their technicians really seemed to know their stuff. They will still work on VW Commercial vehicles however can't do Service plan or warranty work. So in that respect when you are off Service Plan I'd definitely recommend them.

I've used Mon Motors in Bristol a few times for servicing, most recently in April this year, and have no complaints so far. I was particularly impressed by the video walk through the technician provided when he was doing the underbody health check on the van. So at the moment they are my preferred garage for regular servicing work. I doubt I'd go back to Breeze unless Bristol couldn't book me in, Poole is a nightmare to drive into and they just don't have the space there for the volume of work they seem to take on. I had them check the tracking on the van and even just parking up in the morning was stressful, never mind checking in.

Have you thought about VW Heritage of Dorchester - they aren't too far away from you? I haven't tried them but they are an option.....

We use breeze for warranty work. Needs to go back to have the warranty work redone. Mons in Bristol are not great from a customer services POV. Also did not do the curtesy wash.
I have not tried Bath yet.
I have used Bridgewater. They can service, but not do camper warranty work. Okay, but if they find anything that needs work, like alignment, you have to book in again.
So in summary, none in the area I can recommend.

I've used Marshall's in Bridgwater for my current "van" type servicing under my Service Plan. It's my second California the they've looked after. I've always found them very efficient and professional.

For California camper related issues (warranties) I'm using MonMotors in Bristol but have found them exhausting. Every investigation takes a whole day of sitting around and then the next appointment to fix is weeks apart.

Service done at Exeter today - I said I would report back.
Really quite impressed. They have moved to a bigger premises since I was last there and share the space between VW Commercial and Cupra. Booked in online, contacted a day prior to confirm and check vehicle in. Customer engagement was excellent and the communication between the mechanics and front of house was really good from what I could see as I waited.
Oil and inspection service completed efficiently (on service plan) and I had the brake fluid changed for £57 which I thought was pretty reasonable. Recall for bi turbo software update completed too.
So no issues at all and I was really impressed with the customer service - something Ive found to be lacking in the past, and actually a good indicator as to how the place is run. I’ll certainly be using them again, but noting that the task today was pretty straightforward and base vehicle only - I will happily try them for Cali specific stuff if/when needed.
