Hello everyone, after several years of camping in out T6 tin top, we decided to take the plunge and get a T6.1 California… and what a great decision it was, having just come back from a taster weekend… However, we wanted to sleep up top, to leave space downstairs but found the bed a little uncomfortable. We’ve previously used a Duvalay topper and it made such a difference, but am after some suggestions as I don’t want to carry an additional topper as I understand you can’t leave them in place when putting the roof back down. Sorry if this has been asked multiple times before, but having trouble searching for answers!

Fully understand the want to not have anything up there but we use Duvalays for a great sleep. Leaving a SIM like S2S would be ideal but I’ve never dared leave it inflated as I’ve heard horror stories. I think the shop sell one you are able to leave there though?

The S2S deffo needs deflating before closing the pop top

It has been answered a few times and search is your friend, As a new forum member you can also pay the nominal fee, become a member and have advanced search.

- The S2S is a smaller pack, you have to deflate and should not store in the top deflated. Some do.
- The Duvalay is larger, you cannot at all store in the top. Goes in the back when travelling - exact width of the back shelf. We roll, some fold.
- The club shop posted a new inflatable they have last week that can stay in the top deflated.

We carry a Duvalay. If we go out in the van for a day we just roll it up and thrown in a pop up tent. If we pushing the top up we leave everything in - Duvalay, quilt and pillows - stays up.

We have a S2S but find it a faff inflating up and down compared to the ease of a Duvalay so in the loft it stays.

Must be honest, I find the upper bed mattress pretty comfortable, but when I have had a night or two on the bed downstairs with our topper I can tell the difference.

We got a Panda Topper and its the most comfortable one I have found.
If you remove the current mattress you can leave it up there.

We have a T5.1 and needed extra cushioning for the pop top so after some research went for the Outwell Dreamcatcher SIM 5mm double 120x195cm.
Fits well on top of the VW mattress and makes for a very comfortable night. We have a topper on top of the Dreamcatcher. There is a knack to rolling back up and I find it is best done when it is in the pop top and you standing on the seats. Takes just a few minutes. Best if camped up for 2-3 nights plus not packing up every day in my view.
