Has anyone with a T6.0 Ocean upgraded their batteries professionally to either a pair of Fogstar Drift’s or Roamer LiFePO4 batteries?

Which as I understand from my chosen robot overlord Gemini is a much more cost effective solution than the top of the {price} range Super-B’s yet still with top quality batteries within.

If so and you can spare a moment, please may I enquire:

Who did it for you?
How much was it, if you don't mind?
How long did it take?
and
Would you recommend the upgrade?

Finally (because I’m not asking lots of questions already) if anyone with a pair of LiFePO4 batteries have any kind of powerful inverter as a result, has anyone used the existing 240v kitchen (normally) EHU socket with the inverter when offgrid, switching automatically to EHU when that’s plugged in? It would be the perfect set up.

Much appreciated.

Hi Baldrick, as you asked so very politely, and eloquently, I will share our journey of two years ago when we first acquired a Cali Ocean:

As a household with solar and lithium powerbanks and two Evs plus home charger, we are big converts of electricity rather than gas, especially when camping. Therefore my wife was thrilled with the 230V socket in the Cali, until I told her it was rated at a max. of 300w. 'So I can't use my induction hob or kettle' she said. 'No' said I. 'Let me see about getting some roger solar and of the new LiFePO4 batteries (less chance of thermal runaway than lithium-ion or NMC) and an inverter.'

Very loooong story short, the prohibitive cost of rooftop solar and lithium batteries and inverter versus an initial 1kWh Jackery, then 2kWh Bluetti meant that we now use powerbanks exclusively.

The benefits are that they are mobile, cheaper, can still be charged by solar or DC/DC (Google Charger One, etc) and allow us to use an electric kettle, toaster, induction hob, even hair straighteners on our travels. We love this flexibility so much that as many on here are aware, we have now taken the plunge and sold the Cali (for nearly as much as we paid for it!) and reserved one of the below which has V2L (vehicle-to-load), allowing a whopping 3600w of electrical power, fully off grid, just from the traction battery.

TLDR; Just get a 2kWh power bank which has an pure sinewave inverter. They are around £900 and can be charged from solar or while driving.Or do as we have and go full EV with V2L.
