Are prices due to crash?

Kept my eye on the market.

Since the turn of the year I’d say prices have recovered.

October / November I saw many go unsold, asking prices for T6.1 went through the floor.

Probably since the last of the T6.1’s got sold I’ve seen prices and demand going back up.

Good news for all the Cali owners :)
 
Ive been monitoring WBAC with a value on mine as may need to sell & its currently at the highest figure its been for months, & £15k higher than the November low.
 
Been monitoring mine too. Since the start of January the price has been up 5% (the highest price for quite a few months), but it dropped almost 5% last week.

That maybe related to the new reg on Saturday.

Maybe more people have been selling and WBAC have slightly more stock than usual and therefore lower their bid.
 
I think a lot has to do with seasonality. I put my very rare Knaus BoxDrive 4x4 up for sale in Oct/Nov and it was very quiet and only lowball offers.

Fast forward to early Feb and I put it back up on eBay and the phone rang off the hook within hours of it going live and sold it a week later for the asking price.

As ever, good, well presented, cared for vehicles with an honest description and lots of good photos will sell well. Add in a bit of rarity value and the price & interest will keep prices bolstered. But I think seasonality is just a hallmark of the campervan market. If you're desperate to sell, it'll be reflected in the price.

I reckon that’s having an impact or it could be a change in the wind direction, who knows! I have just checked again and it has dropped much further, so in the last 8 days the price has fallen 15.5%.
I’m not looking to sell, so it’s just curiosity.

Edit… or maybe they know VW have just damaged my van while in for a warranty fix :(
 
We Buy Any Car just dropped 20% off valuation on a T6.1 I’ve been keeping an eye on.

Odd.
 
I think the economy is shafted. I know the price of new vans keeps pushing up but any traders taking a risk for profit are protecting themselves. Slightly different perspective if you've a fab summer full of touring plans and can offset the depreciation with memories.

Doesn’t they’re algorithm drop the price if you keep entering the same reg number?
 
I think that WBAC is probably not the best bellwether to guage the current market. They have algorithms which will be based on their appetite to buy certain vehicles, their current stock, their cashflows in addition to the state of the market.

My van is currently on Autotrader, and I'm genuinely surprised at the lack of interest and the stupid lowball offers I'm getting. I'm pretty sure this wouldn't have been the case this time last year. But as inconvenient it is for me presently, I do think the market has to calm down and if that means more genuine wannabe campers can afford to buy then that's a very good thing.

Put it on here for sale and prob needs to be £80k (advertise and get full asking).
Westy are bring out cheaper Svens £85k (new plus offering discount these days), poorer spec to yours though.
 
From past experience and watching westys pop up for sale, I would say 90% of the nearly new/year old ones always end up going back to a westy dealer.
So I would give them all a bell and see who offers you best price.
