I recently saw somebody in a T6 van conversion using the new Lock n level campervan levelling system on a campsite in Dorset and wondered if anybody here had any experience of them?

To be clear, these things are expensive (£425) but appear to be very compact to store, easy and safe to deploy and very adjustable upto the max height of 14cm.

I would love to hear from anybody who has actually used them, as I missed the people on the campsite.

We had the caravan version and it was excellent, very well engineered and used on a variety of surfaces (including rough hard standing etc) with no issues at all. Only downside is that whilst they are flat when not inflated they can get very muddy if it's wet so they can be a bit messy to stash after camping. There was a slight bounce when using them but I wonder if that would be more pronounced on a camper given there aren't corner steadies

Thank you @stoobthealien Great to hear some real life experience! I had not thought about mud etc.

I have a single axle caravan Lock n Level, which is great. Especially when trying to get the wheel spokes lined up with the wheel lock.
From what I remember at the caravan show, the motorhome and campervan version has some extra metalwork on them to help them steady the van. The campervan version is a lot more expensive than the caravan ones but they are rated for 3500kg and you get 2 of them.

I think the campervan version has metal wedges that support the bag when inflated.

Just ordered a set of Lock 'n' Levels .... after a horrendous experience with my 'regular' ramps.... that flipped up and damaged the rear under tray when I reversed onto them. I don't know if anyone else has this trouble but I struggle reversing with a DSG gearbox..... I mean, I find it difficult to have 'fine' movement control - that you get with manual gearbox and clutch.

I'll report back once I've had a chance to use them.

This is my fear!

A review and a photo or two would be really appreciated once you’ve given them a go.

A tad expensive but i quite fancy a set because of the room taken by the ramps, anyone else used them?

I agree, Finding the bite point in reverse in a DSG California is very woolly and potentially dangerous. Our DSG Golf is better.

If anyone is looking for an alternative to lock n levels there are EMUK. Made in Germany, shipped from Netherlands. Really substantial and well made, lift to a minimum of 150 mm supposed to lift to 200 mm. Used them now for around 4 years. Not looked back.

Blimey, £489, i was hoping they would be cheaper than the locknlevel

EMUK: yes I looked at those. From what I can understand, these are aimed at heavier vehicles.... they can support up to 11 Tons, so a a bit bigger and heavier. (Lock 'n' Level lift 3.5 Tons). Each EMUK bag is 3.6Kg.... vs. 2.9Kg for the Lock 'n' Level.

I had the same problem reversing the van up the inclined drive so I got the gearbox remapped at Bognor Motors, absolute game changer, none of that dithering at T junctions, roundabouts etc

I do hate that junction/roundabout dither!
Appreciate you're driving a 3 ton truck so don't expect to race away, but that momentary lapse of nothingness before you move is so off putting.

But back to the subject.... these look great. Pricey though. May have to stick with the chocks another year... but as already mentioned, if anyone bites the bullet, be great to see them in action.

Do you go to the October NEC Caravan show? Thats where I bought my caravan one from. They normally do a show deal.

So my Lock n Level's arrived today, and I tested them out on my drive which is sloped, and also inclined left to right. What I hadn't appreciated before they arrived... is by inflating the bags to different levels I could correct the downward slope as well as the sideways tilt in one go. The Metal support struts, really keep the bags in position, there's no noticeable 'additional' bounce from the bags... just the usual suspension. The come with very substantial (thick) rubber mats for them to sit on, so I would have no concern about using these on a hard surface, including gravel.

I keep a Ryobi (18v battery) air pump in the van at all times ... hardly any of the battery was used during inflation.

Thanks for posting up. more or less dead level front to back and side to side and probably a lot easier than trying to drive up on chocks which wouldn't have you got that level anyway.

This is not meant as a criticism of anyone's personal choice and preference but I personally don't get the obsession some people have with being absolutely level. As long as the slope isn't too much and more head isn't lower than my feet when lying down I'm fine.

If you take the example recently posted I personally wouldn't notice 1.8 and 1.7 degrees, that's pretty much already level. I've stopped using the level indicators on the van display and just go by feel.

How much space do these leveling bags and an air compressor take up? When we take our ramps with us they live on the side of the van and therefore do not take up any valuable internal space.
