VW commercial have put out the press release today confirming a number of articles published over the past few months:

New infotainment /screen / etc seems to be the biggest update on top of the various cosmetic ones. The most interesting camping update is that the PHEV versions can now run the AC while stationary for up to 8 hours while you're camping

Can't quite work out from this press release whether this is 'an addition' to the current set of California vans (based on the multivan) .... or an addition to the current crop (rebranded as 'Caravelle') .... if the former: Would/Does this mean the introduction of the 7.1?

It does - this is the 7.1 (refresh of the multivan base and associated California)

The Multivan (people carrier) changes name to be Caravelle and gets some updates. Styling, Infotainment, colours, wheels.
The California uses as a base vehicle the 'Caravelle' so also gets the same updates.

( VW official sources have never used the 'T7' prefix when describing the current California. )

Looks to be the Euro 7 changes with a new vent in the front for better thermal. updated head unit for ai

Couldn’t see anything else though - the images are on the German car configurator

Ahh man, 7.1 !
The white / red combo looks nice as is the massage seat function.
Standard base wheels will be 17” steelies.
But the white / brown looks really nice.
I guess that’s why they had the t7 2.9% pcp deals and £9k off !

The infotainment running VWs latest platform is the main update really - the press says it's much better than the one we currently have

Latest system was the same when the t7 came out. Still crashed lots and needed updates. So not sure if that’s a good selling point :D

Anyone know when these can be ordered from, the uk configurator still shows the old one?

Interesting but confusing re-naming, as on the continent the Caravelle is the people mover based on the joint Ford platform, and the Multivan is still the Multivan
