T7 Ocean PHEV electrics

Hi everyone,

Picked up a 25 reg Ocean PHEV last weekend, I have a few questions regarding electrics that I have found conflicting info on from various sources (the salesman wasn't really up to speed on the PHEV version).

• Pressing the 'max power/max charge' button on the dashboard, I've read that this should activate the inverter and charge the leisure battery from the PHEV traction battery. Does this only work when the vehicle is moving? I've only tried it while stationary on my drive but according to the control panel in the back of the van nothing was happening.
• The leisure battery went from 100% on Saturday, to 68% on Thursday, to 50% on the following Saturday, yesterday. In the course of the week, I unlocked and locked the vehicle three times and opened the powered sliding doors twice, nothing else running such as the fridge or AC/heating. That's it. Is this leisure battery drain normal, or is it possible it hasn't had the update/recall?

The Max power function only works when the vehicle is being driven as it uses power generated by the drivetrain alternator/generator to charge the engine 12v battery and lithium leisure batteries and overcomes the standard 80% maximum charge boosting it to 100% charge.
The PHEV battery does NOT charge the Leisure Batteries.

I would get the Dealership to check that ALL available updates have been installed for the leisure electronics.

Let me please correct you to avoid confusions but it’s possible to charge the leisure batteries without driving. In fact I’m doing it periodically when my van is parked in my car park and it works very well

And how do you charge them.? By plugging into EHU mains, NOT PHEV charging.

and in answer to a question on this in comment for that video it was ...

"Engine doesn’t need to be running. Press brake, press start, it’s now charging."

As in, the leisure batteries are now charging with the max charge button from the Phev high voltage battery.

You need the "engine running" to use the fast charge button - so you can do it on the drive or at a campsite without a hook up - just having the ignition on wont work. California Chris did a video on this...

As for battery loss in the drive - I've left mine for a couple of weeks while away and while the leisure batteries have gone down a bit they very quickly charge up as soon as I'm on the road. I've turned off keyless entry as I've read this can cause power drain issiues in some circumstances - but you also need to make sure the software is up to date.

Thanks all, it was the pressing the brake that I wasn't doing. 'max power' is now charging the vehicle battery and then the leisure battery in that order. Dabbling in HMI design in my day job, I'm confused as to why the 'max power' function button lights up when you press it regardless, rather than only illuminating when it's operating.

I'll check the recall status and try turning off keyless entry.
