Any recommendations for best cover in 2026 please. LV, NFU, others?

I tried researching the site but can only find 2022 threads.

I am due for renewal in a few weeks so am going through the same rigmarole.
Currently with Aviva who want nearly £700 next year,, although I don’t need business insurance nor commuting anymore due to change of jobs, had similar prices for all the ‘proper’ campervan insurance firms of 650+ Also a few would ask you to phone to finish the quote- sod that if I can’t do it online I’ll go elsewhere I don’t have time to waste .Caravan guard who I used last year wouldn’t quote for some reason, probably as I checked the max mileage it would allow you to select.

LV and Allianz - who appear to be LV based, come in under £400 so will likely be going there.

There is also talk of some not covering the van if left an airport over a certain time.

Safeguard give a club discount for the first year. My Safeguard was just over £500, no discount as its my third year. I said 3000 of my 10000 miles would be European, they also include AA cover. (Including cover for Europe).

Somebody has just replied when I was tying this, they may give you some more ideas.

Hope you find something. Make sure the camping side of your van is covered.

If you want cheap, I've seen people insuring through Admiral and getting confirmation that they have good cover. I'm not so sure they'd wriggle when it came to a claim. Very few run of the mill insurers want to know.
Been with CAMC for two years - about £520 second year, but peace of mind knowing EVERYTHING is covered makes me feel a bit better with the cost of stuff.

I'm with Just Kampers, recently renewed for another 12 months for £410; this includes legal, protected NCB and excess protection.

CAMC and JustKampers are brokers, or deal finders. I guess you still have to check the details for the company they offer to you.

I have just renewed with Direct Line, but only after chasing around. CAMC only seem to offer £20 less than a written renewal quote - not much use if your current insurer is overcharging. NFU will come back and want to talk on the phone, but I had already chosen by the time they did. Ripe were no use as you had have a Thatcham rated alarm fitted. Comfort have odd rules about unattended overnight parking. I was going to call Adrian Flux (Broker) and might next year. Online to JustKampers was very helpful as I had good prices offered by LVE and Ageas. Going back to Direct Line with these prices saw them reduce my renewal quote by over £200, so I paid just under £500, just less than last year's price. I do have a perfect record and the Cali is parked in a good area.

Comfort have odd rules about unattended overnight parking.

It is the insurer who imposes this condition not the broker.
Comfort and Caravan Guard are both AXA policies as far as I know (do correct me if I am wrong) hence they highlight it. Others may not but it may still be a condition.
I have informed my insurer many times of airport parking etc, been charged a few quid but then had it refunded on return.
It is only a problem if you leave you van in dodgy or insecure places, but why would anyone do that?

Some of them also insist on a tracker being installed, if the van is over a certain value. Think it was £70k or £80k.

The standard alarm and immobiliser are often called Thatcham 1. That’s the lowest grade and isn’t really a thing now as all the gradings have been revised.

Typically, they want a Thatcham 5 tracker for high value vehicles. Some will accept Thatcham 7, which isn’t as good but still ok.

What you need to do is compare the installation and subscription costs versus the discount the insurer gives you. Sometimes it’s not worth it. Of course, improving your chances of recovering your vehicle with all those extra bits in it you’ve bought might make it worth it for you.

I went with Safeguard for my new Grand Cali.

Previously, for over a decade, I was with Comfort for my Cali SE. But last year, their quote was a joke. The leap in premium despite no accidents etc was disrespectful at best to a long-standing customer and just laughable when compared with the competition. So, I switched to Safeguard and saved about £150.

trying to get insurance. Mine lapsed on LV so quote £690 has now jumped to £1,050 and I just got a quote from Just Campers £1,500.. anyone got a recommendation
