It’s that time again Insurance renewal due next month. Currently with NFU, got a renewal figure and was just looking for some suggestions on some other companies to call for quotes.
Also any ideas on how to get an accurate value on my van - tried Carwow, the said it’s currently worth £59,995. It’s a 2024 Ocean with a few factory fitted extras.
Thanks in advance,
Mark.

I tried to get a quote out of NFU in January and the online message said they couldn’t insure me! All other main companies were happy to. We stuck with Comfort in the end.

NFU don’t do online……. you have to speak to them. We have been with them for a few years now, they are old fashioned and not the cheapest………BUT……… they do provide good wide ranging cover and always have a real human that you can talk to. I have tried at each renewal to seek an alternative more competitive quote but at the end of the day the cover never really competes on a like for like basis, the price is not usually so much less that I have jumped ship.

I think the risk when asking others for advice is that we all have completely different needs/risks. It depends on your age, vehicle, postcode, driving history, miles per year, excess required…….. and so the list goes on!

Either way just make sure you fully understand what cover is offered and are happy with it and the price.

Good luck, It’s a minefield out there

I have detailed my experiences of forays into the vehicle insurance market on here previously.
Best results have been obtained via Quotezone.
This year, insuring my daily driver with Admiral, (obtained from Quotezone), I was persuaded to go for a multi-car policy including the Cali. In initial discussions on this concerning value, the person I was talking to referred to some internal document and came up with a value which seemed about right, it was £2500 higher than a recent WBAC quote.

H in there, jumping in here as jus searching the forum of any recent insurance chat. I need to renew, we’re with safeguard, I think the reason is that it’s the only one who’ll insure if the van is parked on a street outside house (our only option). It’s v expensive tho, especially after having to make a claim due to a theft a couple of years ago .

Any other suggestions than comfort (who I’ll try again), it’s a 2011 van

Thing with Insurance requests, unless it is around policy details and specifics, costs are largely irrelevant unless it is your next door neighbour replying. Once you do find someone who will insure a camper as a camper and not as a steamboat or something wild, the actual process depends on your specifics of parking, no claims history, postcode etc.

We are with Comfort and have been for 4 years. I’d not say they’re the cheapest, but they haven’t hiked their prices unlike most. The annual increases have been reasonable.

Having just been through the annual ritual, I found that the add-ons make a huge difference. So, Comfort and Safeguard include Home, Uk and Eu breakdown by default, worth about £200 I reckon and an essential for me. Take that in to account and both become very competitive, bringing the actual cost of the insurance to under £350.
It is so tricky to compare until you break down what is included.
As an aside, I got two quotes with Comfort, with and without NCD protection, the difference heing almost £300 despite Comfort saying it should only be £77. Bonkers. It does pay to play about with thise options imo.
