My infotainment system has gradually died over the past few months. It started with dead spots on the touch screen. It now it seems to have spread to everything. CarPlay no longer connects, touchscreen completely dead and system clock continually resets to noon when switched off. All that really works. Ow is the reversing camera and that is unreliable cause I can’t use any onscreen controls.

Given the issues seem to be greater than just the touchscreen and the cost of replacing the OEM unit I am considering replacement with a floating screen unit.

As usual I have done extensive research but am still worried I’ve missed something important!

I am inclining towards the Alpine Halo 9. Thinking that the 9” screen will be more in proportion than the 11”.

What’s important to me are:
  • Wireless carplay
  • Retaining at least 1 USB for connecting devices when required
  • Reversing camera
  • Parking sensors (front and rear)
  • Maintaining steering wheel controls
What might I have missed that others think is important.

Have others fitted the Halo and been pleased (or Mott)?

I’ve looked at the Pioneer and Kenwood alternatives. Has anyone chosen those in preference to the Halo - if so why?

Can anyone recommend a supplier /fitter within reach of Ross on Wye. I’m happy to travel a bit so South Wales, Bristol, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire etc would be great.

I would contact @Absolut5 Audio ltd a Forum member and ask their advice regarding a replacement. They are well regarded on here and the T6 Forum. They can do the installation or supply all the necessary for a DIY installation.

I fitted a halo 9 in a T6 beach, if you get the VW canbus converter you will retain steering wheel and multi function display, it will use the VW microphone and if you have climate control it will interface with that also. It works with VW parking sensors and reversing camera. I bought the truck and motorhome version, which has built in sat nav and park 4 night. When I sold my beach I kept the halo 9 and it is now installed in a Ducati. Well worth the investment. Map updates are available through alpine navi extras
