Wind out awning

I have never had a wind out awning before but heard a few horror stories of them being ripped off, ripping during a downpour etc. I know about the “dropping one corner” to allow for water run off, always done similar for awnings on my c channel. What are people’s thoughts on these for keeping the awning taught to prevent water pooling. I already have an awning tie-down kit if it’s a tad windy

Seems unnecessary to me. Just use common sense and don't leave it wound out when its too windy and make sure one corner is lower to allow run off in the rain.

Wind out awning, peg legs fit tie down kit and tighten guy ropes, tension awning by winding in until taut.
I always used the tie down kit.

The rafter will help with pooling but even better helps with flapping / noise if windy. All other rules apply, drop a leg, tie down strap, peg feet, roll in if very windy etc.

Never had a problem with mine in 6 years. Just drop one corner and ensure he tension is there and use the tie down straps.
