Waterproofing the bellows

Hi , we are at a campsite in the lakes at the moment and last night was gale force winds and rain at right angles so the wind and rain was hitting the side of the bellows. The water started seeping through after an hour or 2. It got so bad we had to shut the roof. My van Is a 2019 model. Anybody used any waterproofing spray on their bellows to help this issue.

Aquatex is what a lot of us on here used when impacted by the "bellowsgate" saga (2022/3 models) and think the majority of us, myself included, would say that was pretty successful. Having said that horizontal rain with a driving wind is always going to end up penetrating - in which case a pop top wrapper is your best bet in such conditions, if you need the roof up, but best advice would generally be to put the roof down if possible, or park with the rear facing in to the wind to at least minimise impact.

When using Aquatex the bellows need be bone dry and clean - I found one can more than sufficient to give the seams 3 coats and the surface 2 coats in most places.I also put a coat on the interior side of the seams around the windows, which was where the particular problem was with our original version of the bellows.

Thanks for your reply. I do have the pop top wrap but have never used it. I’ll try the Aquatex treatment and take the pop top wrap with me if the forecast is rubbish which admittedly it was on this holiday . This has only happened once before and the rain was hitting the front of the bellows and droplets started coming through the material but this was on a different level. The van inside is still drying out now. Hopefully no water stains anywhere. One good thing was when we had the roof down we could hear the roof drains gurgling so at least they are working ok…….
