I’m looking at this mat / groundsheet for use under the wind-out awning.

It seems to be the perfect size. Our current groundsheet is good at keeping dust and dirt from coming in from underneath, but when it rains it forms a nice puddle too! Does anyone use a mat like the one in the link? Are you happy with it? Does it allow rain to pass through? What size can you fold it up to? (Space is always a consideration!)

We use one that's very similar, it's been really good. In fact one of the best twenty quid on van things I've spent. We use it under the air beam awning to protect the base of that on gravel especially, and inside the awning room when using that. Water runs through it, it drys fairly quickly and as it's bigger than the awning room footprint you can fashion it to form a bit of a barrier at ground level. The point with rain going through it does however work in reverse, so use it on wet grass and the wet will come through from below where you walk on it. We got a separate carpet square to get round that for shoe swapping. The flimsy carry case lasted longer than expected but failed eventually, it just gets a bungee inside a bin bag now. Folds fairly flat. Definitely wouldn't be without ours.

This company do a very robust outdoor matting, i have two of them, they fit the wind out really well, can be used in Party hub etc, they protect from stones etc, water runs through it and it drys very well, feel warm under foot , can be wiped or completely jet washed. Swept with a brush etc , keep all mud from comming through when on a longer stay

I've got one pretty much identical from Olpro, would guess it's the same thing but with different branding, also seen similar stuff in Go Outdoors.

I'm very happy with it, water drains through easily and it dries really quickly assuming the grass underneath drains OK. I've also used bin bags under it near the van doorway to stop the water coming back up through it when the grass is damp as well as a cheap doormat from IKEA.

First time I used it was during a really muddy festival where it got pretty dirty and it was so easy to just hoze down when I got home. Just needs the occasional light scrub with a brush and some all purpose cleaner type spray.

The zip broke on the bag it came in quite quickly but mine is also folded pretty flat in the back of the van with the door mat and elastic round them.

Only issue I've had with mine is that the edges / seams tend to fold over in places. More annoying than anything and reminds me one of my weekend jobs is to give them a quick de-crease with a cool iron and some cardboard!
