My Cali (My23) has just recently during all these software updates has been resetting the user interface privacy settings back to maximum. I keep going into the pull down menu and setting it back to share data, I have done this around 4 times now. As my van is 3 years, the vw connected app has expired, I'm not sure if this is the problem. Any ideas?

I don't have a T6.1. But i would not be surprised if this deliberate and makes the customer opt in when ever the software changes, you might even find the T&Cs (probably via the "i" button) have wording, data or indeed date changes in them and by making you reselect you are effectively agreeing to the new terms. The legalisation around this stuff is onerous and it is probably just a very cautious approach even if the T&Cs don't change.

I'm keeping an eye on it, I think it may be going back to maximum privacy without a software upgrade as well.

It's not a problem, just annoying knowing its doing it.

The VW connect cost seems very expensive for what you get. I'm happy using Android Auto.

Low Battery, Battery disconnect or diagnostic clear might also do it if that could explain it. It would be very odd just for this setting to revert and not others.

Checked this morning, after setting it to share data last night, it's back to maximum privacy again. The van normally stays on ehu, so never low in battery.

When I have a spare hour, I'll try and phone VW connect support and see what they say.

Will update.

Had a call with VW Apps hotline this afternoon.

My van is due another software update but it hasn't come up on the vehicle. They think it will either come up soon or if its a problem, I will need to take it into VW to get it updated in house.

As its over 3 years old, I assume it will be a charge job. Think I might see what happens over the next 6 months. Its in for a service then, so will see what they say.

I had the same problem after the two big recent updates. I had to delete my user from the vans system, then add myself as the default user again, the privacy settings then saved. Make sure you have the VW app setup on your phone, login with the email address you want to use as the default user and have an S-PIN created as you'll need it.

Had a look at my user settings in my van this morning.

It always welcomes me as Phil, but the primary user was Peterborough Van Centre. (We bought it as a demonstrator).

It wouldn't let me delete it but managed to add a new primary user, simple operation following the screen prompts. The main problem was trying to find the 2nd set of keys. You have to press unlock on both sets, suppose its a security thing.

So its now set on share my position, I'll see if it goes back to maximum again. Hopefully it will do this update as well.

Thanks Begize I didn't actually delete my user, just add the new primary user, which deleted the original one. Will try deleting my user as you said, if the problem persists.

Just to finish a thread off.

I checked my van after sitting for 2 days, the audio system initiates and prompts for the s-pin. Logs in and user privacy is still set to share, so all sorted. VW app shows the van, fuel range, driving data and service info. This is all I tended to use anyway.

No update yet but not too fussed about that.

Thanks for your input Begize.
