Good afternoon,
Apologies if this has already been discussed. New here, just trying to navigate my way around.
Soooo much helpful info. What a great community.

We have recently purchased a brand new GC600. Love it!
However, we have an issue with the side step from new. It has never worked automatically.
There is a toggle in the control panel which is on, but still won't extent when opening the side door.
I can operate it manually via the control panel, and it will also retract by the button on the dash.
Am I missing something? Tried all sorts of scenarios.

VW Sales don't have a clue. And are already saying that this option may have been deleted on this model year 2025. I laughed!!!
I have it booked to go back in to the dealer tomorrow, so need as much info as I can before they lay on the excuses.

Has anyone else got the same GC with a step that works automatically? As it should do...
Did I read somewhere that it may just be a software update?

Anyway, thanks in advance for any help.

Kev

With pre-facelift GCs the goto way to fix issues with the step was first to try a simple reset of the control panel (red switch in utility cupboard off for 30s then back on). If that didn’t have any impact then the next step is the ‘blue plug trick’. Again turn off the red switch in the utility cupboard, look under the passenger side dash (UK) and you will see the KFG Special Function unit- pull the blue plug out - can be a bit fiddly and may need the clips easing with a screwdriver. Once out leave it a minute then plug back in and switch the red switch back on. Tends to resolve any hiccups. May still hold true for facelift models.

Thanks for your help Gordon.
The van did go into the dealership today, and a software update rectified the issue apparently.
Happy days!

Hi all
My GC 600 is a 2021 and I have recently had the dreaded step not working issue. It started when the weather was wet and muddy and grit was in the step. So my thought is a fuse or relay? I have tried the red switch and blue plug, thank you @GordonH . Unfortunately this does not solve my issue.
I have also seen a thread on here with some fuse locations near the red switch, but it didn't make a lot of sense to me! As the step has a connection to retract with a drive away, could it be a fuse elsewhere? I have pulled almost every fuse I can find from 10 to 30 amp and none are broken. Next are relays but I could really do with some advice if anyone else has managed to solve this problem or knows which relays/fuses I should be checking?
Thank you in advance, in hope!

Have the same problem, and blue-reset wont fix it. . I can hear a relay somewhere but cant find the relay or fuse. The step only has about 9 volts on some of the four connection, so could be a grounding problem
