Admittedly I haven’t used them for a while but I’ve just unlocked the locking knobs on my VW rack and 2/3 of them won’t engage or turn to open/close the jaws. When locked they do spin freely although I had to apply WD40 to unlock them and there is rust on the main screw.

When locked again they all spin freely as they should so I guess it has seized up or rusted internally since I last used them.

Has anyone had a similar issue and, hopefully, how you resolved the problem.

Yes been there had to prise the knobs off and buy some new ones from vw, after getting the nut off of the threads by soaking with wd40 after putting it back together I now use copper grease on threads.

Likewise. They rust on. Rusty remove and a long lever eventually get them off.

I managed to salvage mine, plenty of grease, they’re good to go.

I guess just a lot of grunt work and WD40
