[Resolved] Start stop error/alternator charge issue ongoing
I've been chasing my tail with this issue for over a year now. Literally spent a couple of thousand trying to sort it and it still won't fix the issue. The garage I use are at a loss too. I have a start stop error on the dash. Also, if I start the van and let it idle, it won't charge the...www.t6forum.com
Thank you for asking and yes it has always been my intention to provide an update knowing how helpful they can be. The good news is that everything appears to be well but as we have not had the weather or opportunity to take it on a decent trip yet we have delayed sharing our optimism in case it is misplaced.@trailtrotters Was this ever solved? Just curious and would be good for future reference to know what the root cause was.
Thanks for the update and good to hear that the root cause was most probably found. A loose connection sounds very plausible and matches the ‘hunch’.Thank you for asking and yes it has always been my intention to provide an update knowing how helpful they can be. I was reading this post yesterday April 27, 2025 as I have the same issue that appeared during our way towards Tarragona, Spain coming from the south. In the last 5 days, I was just driving with a speed of average 100 kph for a 200 to 300 kilometer range distances using the 5th gear of my California Coast 2017. With this kind of driving, this is using low RPM. Today April 28, 2025, I went to the VW Service Center in Tarragona and they said, they are fully booked and I can only bring the car next week. This is not possible as I have to be back in Zurich on May 5 for work, so I took the risk as the displayed DPF sign is not banking yet. In the highway towards Barcelona, I drove the car with over 2500 RPMComes on as soon as we switch on the engine and stays on permanently. Does not flash.

Coincidentally I am in Spain with my T6:150 : 2016 and my EML light came on, steady ie not blinking. (Not sure if it has any relevance but I had completed a traverse of the Pyrenees at slow speed on a scenic route - N260- well worth it).The vehicle drives perfectly, no loss of power, no noticeable coolant or oil consumption. The first VW garage I got to plugged in the OBR and said it had recorded sporadic EGR fault. The VW commercial vehicle service cleared the light and said continue driving as it might not recur. After about 300 km on fast roads the EML lit up again when climbing slowly on twisty roads into the hills. The next two garages VWCS garages I visited quoted one week and 2 weeks respectively before they could get to examine the vehicle. I’ve done another 250 km since then, no problems in terms of engine performance. I borrowed a simple OBR 11 reader, plugged it in, and it found fault code P0101, which its instruction booklet tells me is “MAF or VAF circuit range /performance”. I have a long way still to go on this holiday. So my question is: did you get back to Zurich without further difficulty?I was reading this post yesterday April 27, 2025 as I have the same issue that appeared during our way towards Tarragona, Spain coming from the south. for a long time. Made a short break and had rest, check again the display and the warning sign is still there. Drove again for another hour or so with low RPM this time and made another break at the gas station. This time when I started again the engine, the warning DPF sign disappeared. Cross fingers when we will drive towards
