Uploading photos snag

I’ve noticed recently that uploading ‘some’ pictures no longer automatically shows the picture inline on the page, instead you get the ‘view attachment’ link. This seems to happens on default photos from iPhone 17 iOS 26.3.1 (a) safari browser.

My Workaround: If you edit the picture on your iPhone e.g crop then resave on your iPhone , then the picture upload works as expected. Maybe something to do with file format? Of course it could be just me, but I have seen a lot of ‘view attachment’ instead of picture on posts recently.

I have to do the same workaround when posting on other sites.. using iPhone 17 and ProRAW format “JPEG-XL lossless” : apparently this newer format causing compatibility issues…cropping causes the file to be saved in a different format which is then compatible.

I think you'll find that its because the original file you're trying to upload is larger than 2MB. By resaving it via cropping on your phone you are downsizing the iamge to under 2mb.

The format is the issue…see bottom photo. When using an acceptable format the “size limit 2MB” does not stop the near 40MB image from being loaded…it does get converted to a smaller size to load though by this site. It can also depend how you select the method of loading the image.
