Good morning everyone,

I'm developing an app for (for the moment only for IOS) capable of controlling the Truma Combi (any version) remotely (3G/4G/5G).

I should be able to publish the app in the APP-Store by the end of February... (I'm alone, I ask for your understanding).

The APP interfaces through a Raspberry PI Zero W2 (about €15). and a small "LIN to UART" interface (about €5).

I will prepare the "complete package" to download and install directly on the Rpasberry along with the release of the APP.

I wanted to know your interest.

Thank you and have a nice day

Marco

Looks very interesting. I remember an earlier post on this and at the time I did buy the RPi and LIN interface which are now in the 'future projects' box waiting for some spare time to have a closer look. I would imagine there is a good amount of interest in this but perhaps as a more turn-key solution (eg a set of instruction on how to configure & install the RPi set ). There were questions a few days ago on the UK FB group on this topic.

I was also looking into this from a Home Assistant perspective - an app would be a neat solution so consider me interested!

Question for you Marco - what's the plan for remote access to the RPi? I expect you'd need a AP on the van for it to operate e.g. a VW Connect+ subscription, or a 5g modem/router.

Also is this LIN only or is there CANBUS connection?

Hi
We have VictronConnect fully remote
And the Truma currently is only Bluetooth.
It would be good to remotely control heating.
In a big van in cold weather it can take a while to get up to temp.
So remote pre heat would be good.

When we upsize in a few years time to a GC and I step off the tech wheel I am more that happy to contribute to any open source activity that is going on. I would like to end up even with an API that can be called from your personal AI assistant to the van - imagine that My YAML is pretty good so I think it can be done - so you can see where my retirement / career slow down mind is going!

Good question RoamingHoming,

thanks for asking: sure a small general purpose 4G/5G portable or fixed router is required onboard in order to permit remote access from GSM network.

I use an old D-link portable one; price starting from just 40.- GBP...

have a good day

Marco

Sorry, missed the second question: LINbus right now, CANbus will follow on next release....

One More Thing: BLE connectiviy is on the way... No router needed if used onboard...
You need a router if you want to extend the connectivity when your're abroad...
