We love Mull been at least half a dozen times but all pre Cali. We should be in Scotland for 3 weeks with the Cali now, Arran, then Mull & Galloway.Thank you for your kind message. I'm in architecture so who knows when that'll get back together..........................but as soon as things lift we'll hopefully get back to this place - obviously Fidden Farm.
Beautiful dog you have there.OMG - We should be exactly the same but first 2 weeks of May - you must stop at Glentrool in Galloway - excellent site run by 2 women and the pub down the road does food to die for. We were on Arran last September and then went over to the Kintyre and down to the bottom. Saw a pod of dolphins from the campsite on the beach at Killegruer! We always stop at the small site near Shiskine on Arran called Bridgend Campsite. Run by lovely old couple - we've stayed there several times now and rumour has it they'll be retiring soon and selling up; I'm looking for first dibs on buying it! Just missed out on one last May when we did Mull and Ardnamurchan. Stopped at Ardnamurchan campsite and got chatting to the lady who runs it for the owner and it appears that was for sale which had fallen through a few times but had been agreed the week before we arrived. I'd added a few figures up and selling our home here could have easily bought it; updated it and lived in cottage nearby...£200k for the site! What a location - Missed it thoughIt is a long way for us here in Norwich so we've found when going to Mull etc we overnight at a nice site in Tyndrum (still 430 miles) - it's a backpackers campsite and hostel (it's on the West HIghland Way) but they have a few hardstandings away from the camping area and superb showers - called By The Way and set back away from A82 next to a very quiet railway line. Perhaps we'll bump into each other one day on Arran, Mull or in Galloway

Thank youFab piccies.
Thank you - yes he is beautiful and will be 3 next month. He's a pure Drakeshead and not interested in other dogs or people just simply finding the next pheasant, partridge or rabbit and that's inbred as we've only done basics with him. I now use a belt round my waist when walking in hills as he weighs 35kg now and belt allows me 2 walking poles; he'll walk for miles.........................Beautiful dog you have there.
You’d know us if you saw us we’ve always got 2 friendly Beagles with us!
We are frequently on the West coast, love every inch of it. It’s 18 months since we were last in Galloway & not been to Arran for a few years. Last year we were back On Skye Wester Ross & the Small Isles. The year before a return to the Outer Hebrides & a first visit to Orkney. Have you been to Fife or Perthshire? Both favourite areas of ours, very underrated & often bypassed by folks. Wishing you happy & safe future travels.

If you go for the shortest crossings which we do because of the dogs you can sail to Orkney in an hour, really no different to Arran. We practically had Orkney to ourselves it was very quiet.I seem to have taken over this topic but hope it might help some others decide on areas to visit. We've been going to Scotland since 2011 staying in cottages till we bought Colin in early 2015. We don't tend to stay on large or noisy sites and try to eek out small quiet ones. So far we seem to have been pretty successful with the odd hiccup. Here are some
Glentrool Campsite in Galloway - excellent

We've been to Dunnet Head on a trip to see what John O'Groats is all about....just v cold when we went but sunny! I like your picture of Tobermory; have a few like thatHaven't done Fife but have some parts of Perthshire - decent camp site in Dunkeld. We have been up through Braemar and Ballater; caught Braemar just after the Highland Gathering; never seen so many campervans in my life, an absolute nightmare but then went on up to Aberdeen and east coast round to Lossiemouth but I like mountains so veered northwest.
Don't think we'll be doing Orkneys as that involves a ferry and I've done very well getting my wife on Arran ferry so islands not so good - I want to go to Outer Hebrides but long and sometimes rough ferry!!!
