Tow bar California 7

Hi, our 2025 California coast doesn't have a tow bar, but we want one for our bike rack. Now the dealer said that at this moment, it cannot be fitted, because the software of the car doens't allow it. It wil set of all the alarms, because is doesn't understand the tow bar and the bike(s) rack.
Doe anybody know when this issue will be fixed in the software? The people at the Dutch VW cannot tell me.

I suggest you find a new Dealership. T7 Californias with factory towbar fitted are coded. Some forum members have had towbar fitted and coded. Ask the California experts

There are indeed mixed messages from VW dealers; I bought my 2025 Ocean from Breeze and they quoted about £700 to fit. Same request to VW Hereford - £1,900. I’m waiting to talk with PF Jones.

These are the people who told me three weeks ago they don't know when the software will be upgraded for fitting the tow bar. I'll keep trying though.

I ordered a t7 ocean without a towbar and after reading how it was near on impossible (at that time) to get one retro fitted I contacted the dealer 4 weeks later and managed to add one to the build (just in time). I realised it would aid resale if I ever sold it.

Smart! Unfortunately, we bought ours second hand, so there was no VW dealer involved.

Just engaged with PF Jones; 13pin Brink towbar fully fitted - £870.19 inc VAT. Clarified that this specifically fits my T7 Ocean, but only for a Thule bike rack (possibly different if pulling a trailer or caravan).
