Nina Harry, Hi, I have the same problem where i cannot get the Easyfold XT2 to attach to the towbar (i think it might not be possible so feeling a little stupid). So my q is did you manage to attach and if so how, thanks in advance!

I quite often have the same problem with my XT3 Easyfold. The solution is to push the clamping lever back even further. From memory it has to further back than vertical. This will open the clamp far enough to go over the tow ball.

The plastic caps on the XT2 seem to contain a hole through which the bolts pass that allow the tilting. Will removing them compromise the tilting mechanism?

I just wanted to make sure everyone who is considering the Thule Easyfold XT 2 (933) for a T6.1 (with factory supplied tow-bar) knows that;

OUT OF THE BOX - THE TAILGATE CANNOT BE OPENED/CLOSED EVEN WHEN THE RACK IS TILTED

aka - the rack is NOT compatible with T6.1

I will be returning mine and ordering a Altera Genio Pro (fingers crossed this does fit)

The modifications suggested on this forum will allow it to tilt sufficiently, but in my opinion unless the bungs are reinserted, the structural integrity of the steel tubing is compromised. The bung offers dimensional stability to the tubing when in situ.

Hi, I just cut the bungs leaving a couple of mm on the lip and then reinserted them to keep tube integrity (and bolt going through) and allow to fold enough to open the tailgate.

Hi as you can see I'm new to the group having just purchased our first Cali. I was just wondering how you got on with the Altera as I'm in the same position. My only concern is handle bar clearance on the rear screen as we have MTB's with wide bars at 76cm end to end.
Any advice gladly received.

I love it. The 'lock' to the Towbar is a bit cheap (plastic housing) which I managed to break (apparently), but the supplier repaired it for me. Other than this, it is perfect in every way.

Yes handlebar clearance is a consideration, but should be okay otherwise many would be returned I imagine.
