Thule Bike Rack on the Tow Bar

Hi, I have the standard detachable VW Towbar and am borrowing a friends Thule rack to collect a new e-bike, having not used a towbar for this previously with this California (2023 T6.1 204 4Motion), I was wondering what will happen with the reversing sensors etc, are they automatically disabled, do the front ones still work, can I assume the reversing camera still works? Any guidance and advice appreciated. Thanks

You are correct.
Rear sensors disabled. Rear fog light on vehicle disabled and replaced by bike rack Fog Light.
Reversing camera works.

some of the really high end racks have sensors.

My sensors are not disabled as the towbar electrics were never coded to the van. I’ve been told it can be coded with the VAG OBD II software which any towbar installer will have and know about but I keep forgetting to take it in.

My tow bar was fitted after market and all my censors still work including the reversing camera which can be useful I can switch the censors of which is fine for me.

Coding doesn't just affect the Parking Sensors it also adjusts the Electronic Stability Programme and Brake force distribution front to rear when a Towbar is attached.
