We bought our TDI Ocean at the end of last year, 6 months old but only 96 miles on it, from Fish Brothers in Swindon. Part exchanged a T6 Beach which we'd had for 7 years beforehand. I thought I'd share a few thoughts after 2 months and just over 3,000 miles because I keep reading lots of negatives about the T7 on the forums, but actually our experience has been very straightforward so far.....Worth saying that we use this as our family car for longer trips and holidays, but as with the Beach we will probably only use it for shorter camping trips, around various mountain biking things and sailing dinghy events.
So what's it like? Essentially really happy with it, feels really car-like and premium in comparison to the T6 and absolutely munches the miles on the motorway, super-relaxed and quiet. With Travel Assist it more or less drives itself. The beds are a bit narrower than the Beach (especially the downstairs one of course) and there is less storage space than a T6/6.1 Ocean, but on the flip-side the back seats are now just as comfortable as the front ones and the double sliding doors are suprisingly useful. Bit of a bummer not having the bike rack on the boot, but getting pretty deft with attaching the towbar-mounted Atera.
I was a bit worried about battery issues having read about them on this forum, but so far haven't seen anything odd. I turned off keyless entry as a precaution, and have left it off, and touch wood all seems good. Only thing that has gone wrong is a stone flicking up from a car in front and creating a big crack in the windscreen, and then a very protracted set of conversations with Autoglass convincing them that a 2025 Califonia isn't based on a 2025 Transporter!
So we're very happy to have made the switch, really suits the way we use the van, and plenty of trips already planned for 2026. Fingers crossed everything continues to be easy. Happy to answer any qs if you're thinking of buying a T7
