2 hour operation with the standard heater? Clearly VW want you to stump up the 1800 for the optional system. At least the snotcycles will get you up to turn the heater on for another 2 hours.

I can confirm my Beach has continuous heating. No additional heater option was selected. (Ireland). I do recall when spec'ing that if you add a spare wheel, it also adds the additional parking heater. That's because the standard camping heater is located where the spare wheel would be stored, so it removes the standard camping heater. All very complicated but my advice: do not spec a spare wheel.
