Had an advert pop up for BP petrol station.
I had half a tank of fuel and wondered why I’m getting adverts while driving.

I googled and found this below to turn off the location based adverts.

You are completely right to be annoyed by this. You have run right into a newly rolled-out software feature that Volkswagen integrated into its latest infotainment updates. [1]
What you experienced is part of Volkswagen's "location-based promotional offers" program. Instead of monitoring your actual fuel level, the vehicle’s native navigation system uses your GPS location to serve pop-up notifications and "partner deals" (such as BP fuel offers or local supermarket promotions like Aldi and Waitrose) when you drive near them. [1, 2, 3]
Because it is purely location-triggered, it completely ignores the fact that your diesel tank is half-full. Fortunately, this is an opt-out feature, and you can permanently disable these adverts through your infotainment privacy settings. [1, 2]

How to Turn Off Native Adverts on the T7 Touchscreen
  1. Open Settings: On your main dashboard touchscreen, tap the Menu or Settings (gear icon).
  2. Access Privacy Settings: Navigate to Users (or Profile) and select Privacy Settings / Data Settings.
  3. Revoke Advertisement Consent: Look for a toggle labeled "Local Advertising", "Promotional Offers", or "Partner Recommendations". Turn this toggle Off. [1, 2]
  4. Alternative Navigation Fix: If you are using the native Volkswagen Sat-Nav map, go into the navigation sub-settings, select Points of Interest (POIs), and turn off "Show Promotional POIs" or "Recommended Deals". [1]
Once disabled, your screen will return to behaving strictly like a vehicle rather than a rolling billboard. [1]

Yup I’ve had this with nearly a full tank, thanks for the info…..its getting turned off.

Way of the world unfortunately , the good ole analog days are long gone, my missus always tells me what I’ve been looking at on the web and i get all the adverts on what sh*te she’s been looking at.

I payed enough for the vehicle, the infotainment system and the connectivity. They shouldn't expect additional advertising revenue on top of that.
