My t6.1 ocean 4montion 1600 miles on the clock and got a tyre pressure warning alert but all tyres seem ok. Does the t6.1 use abs sensors like the t6

How do i know if its got the upgraded TPMS ?

I'm not in my van at the minute but if you go into vehicle settings - tyre pressures you'll see actual tyre pressures for each tyre if you have TPMS

All i can see is an option to reset the alert so i guess i dont have the active TPMS, can the active TPMS be retro fitted on the t6.1?

I don’t know the answer to that question but for sure one of the tyres will be low, it should tell you which one. I don't know what the limit is but we had this a few times when we had a slow puncture. My guess is 10% less than the setting when you synched. It basically just works off a logic that says is this lower than the pressure that it was when the tyres were set. Note that if you set them wrong or low this becomes the baseline setting, it does not “know” the right setting, unlike a full TPMS system.

The Indirect ABS tyre pressure system reacts to a drop in pressure because the tyre circumference decreases so more wheel revolutions / mile compared to the settings. BUT it can also be triggered by decrease revolutions / mile caused by over inflation.
If the tyres were setup during winter/cold weather then an increase in ambient temperature combined with driving heats the air in the tyre so increasing pressure and tyre circumference hence decreasing wheel revolutions / mile and trigger the alarm.
So check tyre pressures and reset alarm.

my last cali started getting this at around 50000 miles my new one is doing it at 1600 miles !

If it is direct TPMS, normally with hard alloy valves, then the signal can get blocked by poor quality 12v chargers or dashcams, this would result in a system error or blank tyre pressures.

Indirect TPMS as @WelshGas states is wheel counts. But both systems should flag over and under inflated tyres.
