We had a problem a couple of weeks ago while we were in liverpool. We could could not open the pop top as it was saying jammed or blocked. On the 6.1 there is no way to find a fault code on the control panel. The other faults were headlight level,ABS,Power steering etc. see below.

I left the the van on the drive for a week and then used a carista OBD scanner to diagnose a "left front wheel speed sensor signal. short to signal B+. In error and keen to get a sensor I bought a cheap £15 one of eBay which said it would fit. During this time the starter battery also died on me. I both a new battery £185 and installed that. Well fought to get it in. The ABS faults and the other faults all remained as previously seen including the pop top with the new battery. I put the new cheap sensor in and the faults remained with an additional sensor incompatible error. Ok. I went to euro car parts who have access to the VAG parts website and bought the Bosch sensor for £92.99 and installed that today. Hey presto no can bus errors and the pop top now works. So moral of the story is. Spend the money snd get OEM parts VW is like HP printers it does not like anything other than OEM ink or parts. Hope this helps anyone who gets these messages and cannot open the pop top on a T6.1

Fault codes
U041600 Invalid data from Vehicle dynamics control module

If you buy a branded ATE sensor it is exactly the same as the original but with the original part number ground out. Plus the difference in price is phenomenal. I think I paid around £36 plus carriage from Autodoc.

The 6.1 is very particular on parts by the looks of it and I did not want to mess about the second time.. The T6 may be different. On the T6.1 If you sneeze the Canbus has a fit. :). Now all I need to do is get the jack and bits back in their box which will probably take me longer than fixing the van.
