Software update (big) today

Probably sent to all affected Owners as some may have limited the Privacy Settings and won't be able to receive the OTA update.
Maybe. However, I wasn't one of those and as stated earlier, I had updated 2-3 weeks ago.
Maybe they should have sent the email when they released the update notifying owners that it would be rolled out over the next few weeks and sequence/requirements for the process.

Going to bump this on a bit as I need a bit of guidance,
Email received from VW re: update for e-call system. Only just got round to looking at it. Have got We Connect in operation, which I believe is adequate for the update. Online mode says activated in the vehicle. Green light is lit on the overhead console. App is logged into and working. So far no pop ups on info screen to download an update. Been out for a good run in the Cali today and still nothing. Am I missing something obvious? Is the basic We Connect enough or would I need the + version? Mine expired in Dec 2025 and I didn't renew it.
I am fairly tech savvy, I can get bread to turn into toast, but this one has me pulling out my last few hairs. Any pointers will be most welcome.

Don’t worry only thing you need to check is that the privacy settings aren’t set to the highest option. I haven’t had it pop up either yet. You only need the basic We Connect, you don’t need to subscribe. It will do it when it’s ready as long as the privacy settings are right. Don’t worry you haven’t done anything

The upgrade mention by Welsh Gas has never been done on our T6 which is now 6 years old and is no longer covered by the manufacturers warranty! We did in the early days mention that the sat nav was needing upgrade but the agent , jct 600 Sheffield, didn’t seem to know how to do it and just said we had to do it on line, but with no indication how to go about it!
We just reverted to maps , or used our phones.
Just wondering if we can do anything about it now?

Similarly how do we access the service record for the California?
Only thing we know that it’s something that is on the internet!

You must have a WE Connect account which is free.

How to Update VW Infotainment Systems
  • Over-the-Air (OTA) Updates (Preferred): For most 2018 and newer models, updates are delivered wirelessly via cellular or Wi-Fi.
    • Notification: You will receive a message on the infotainment screen or via the myVW app.
    • Installation: The system downloads the update in the background while driving. Installation occurs while the car is parked, and a valid VW ID account is required.
    • USB Updates: Suitable for older models (pre-2018/MIB2) or when in-car Wi-Fi is unavailable.
      • Process: Download update files from the VW Map Update site or Volkswagen UK onto a USB drive, then plug it into the car's USB port.
      • Duration: The process can take 30 to 60 minutes.
    • Map Updates: Available on the VW Map Updates page by selecting your car's model and year, allowing you to update navigation systems.

We will have a go with these instructions when we have time; thanks WG.
I have not noticed anything on the infotainment screen, but that’s my problem with IT in general.
Got to say the hand over with the vehicle in January 2019 was far from satisfactory as they just handed over the keys and let us drive away, we were forced to take it as it had arrived early and not when we had ordered it for.
The collection coincided with a very traumatic couple of weeks! VW service at it’s finest.
