Software update - any idea what they were for?

Similar update on my T6.1 (Oct 2024) 02NOCU 146MB took about 10 to 12 mins to download.
Download and install were uneventful, but the restart and sync of the primary user and vehicle settings proved “interesting”
Main issue was that I could not sync the vehicle, as the sync kept stalling with “connect to internet to sync” message (even though a data connection was present)
Could not sync via the we connect portal and my account to the vehicle.
Went back into the vehicle settings and Users menu then sub menu “Become primary user”.

Enter this menu and the vehicle starts a We Connect ie “Online session”

Wait until the next screen comes up (NB do not touch the bottom “Become Primary User” tab)

(may take a couple of cycles) and then use the back arrow (top right) to end the session and I was able to sync all the user settings.

Only difference has been that the S PIN security function seems to be enabled by default.
Enter the PIN, check box to “remember the S Pin” and normal service restored.
Hope this helps

The other thing I noticed was that in one of the recent upgrades it wouldn’t complete the installation until I had resent the privacy restrictions. The download went ok and the uploading worked to about 95% and then stopped. After a bit of knob twiddling and button pushing I got a message saying that my privacy had been reset to maximum. On setting it back to minimum privacy/full remote access the installation finished to 100% and is working well.

Even if you don’t like full access allowable on a regular basis incase the Russians or Chinese (or even the Americans these days!) hack into you vehicle, full access may be required for some software updates…or am I wrong. This is only from my experience but the boffins in the group may know the proper facts!
