Sliding T6.1 VW California Door

Our sliding rear door will not open from the inside. It will open from the outside. Do you think this is a fault.

I couldn't find any setting on the van that would disable (a bit like child locks) this but I could be wrong. It makes no difference if the key is in the ignition or not. The 2 front doors are working normally. So if we are in the back with the sliding door closed we climb through to the front to get out.

Have you pressed the child lock on the driver's door panel?


The VW Transporter T6.1 features an electronic child lock for the sliding doors, controlled by a dedicated button on the driver's door panel. This prevents the rear doors from being opened from the inside, while allowing them to still be operated from the exterior.

I have sorted this out myself. What a miracle.

I had accidentally caught the child lock button on the driver's door and so switched the child lock function on. All sorted now.
