I am about to measure the rear clearance levels on our VW California Ocean, having just had new rear springs fitted.
I’m led to believe that once ‘settled in’ there could still be a slight variation , given the weight distribution in the van.
On researching this however, using VW California RH drive, UK, it appears to state “ Offside heavier due to kitchen water tank etc…. Surely this is wrong as our van has kitchen etc on nearside !

Lost in Translation.
The water tank/ kitchen is fitted on the one side no matter if RHD or LHD.

Good to know, so it’s as I thought our RH drive will be heaviier on the nearside, given the kitchen etc
The research on Google brought this up:

The driver's side (right-hand drive) or passenger side (left-hand drive) is typically the heavier side of a VW California, as it houses the kitchen unit, fridge, wardrobe, and water tanks.
This to me would mean they’re suggesting ‘a difference’ .

I guess Google isn’t always spot on …lol

for me google is correct if you agree right hand drive is when you drive on the right hand side of the road and have the steering wheel on the left . Also the 2 household batteries in right hand drive (steering wheel on the left) are on the same side as kitchen unit and water tank.
If you interpret it differently and RH-drive refers to the position of the steering wheel for you, then confusion arises.

Interesting, though my understanding is UK convention regards RH drive as ‘steering wheel on the right’. Possibly therein lies the confusion/misinterpretation.

According to wikipedia your interpretation is correct , for me personally it is always confusing, I would rather call it RH-steering
