Hi All I have a 2 year old 6.1 ocean with 13500 miles on the clock it’s due for its first service and just booked it in . VW have mentioned a brake fluid change and air condition service at a cost of £ 199.00 extra as not part of service plan . I’m pretty sure that with the mileage I have only done this does not doing or is it due to 2 year period. Would like to see what anyone thinks or have similar experience.

They are time related.

My 2 year old T6.1 Ocean had a brake fluid change at the first service, at a cost of £72.
It is not included in the VW service plan VW recommend it to be changed every 2 years.

I was advised my aircon didn’t need a service at this time. I guess it’ll need doing at the next service in just over 10,000miles / 352 days.

If you’re concerned that the level of water absorbed by your brake fluid is at a level that may make the water turn to steam and a subsequent loss of braking efficiency then ATS (or any decent garage) will test it for free.
2 years is a very normal period for the dealers to want to change the fluid. 2 years is a very short period for the hygroscopic nature of brake fluid to have absorbed enough water to make it unsafe.
You can work out why they do it. They could of course use brake fluid that’s synthetic and doesn’t absorb water if they wanted to.
One of my cars is on brake fluid that is over 20 years old and still passes the absorbed water test easily.

My independent vw specialist checks the brake fluids water content and the brake fluid has been changed twice in eight years

Ignore the AC service. If, in the unlikely event your vans air con performance diminishes in the next 5 years then, just go to the nearest garage and have it re-gassed for a 1/4 of the price the main stealer is hoping you’re daft enough to pay.

The aircon “service” will be a pressure check and maybe changing the air filter. Both are not warranted in 2 years unless you use dusty and stoney tracks regularly. Also if they find an air con leak, such as a condenser breach, it won’t be included.

Mt vehicle is 5 years old and just had it's first air condioning check - because I asked for it, not because some indicator said so. 13 500 is far too soon. I also was quoted for an oil leak problem needing replacement alternator, timing belt and water pump. I though premature at 35 000 miles and so it turned out to be. They were forced to come clean when I put in an offical complaint.
