Hopped in our 2023 Cali today and just before we did, noticed that the seam on the outer edge of both passenger and driver seat is split and damaged. The centre panels are alcantara and the outer panels appear to be plasticised leather and these are the ones that have split and pulled apart... Van has covered 13, 400 kilometers.

Anyone else had this, was it a warranty claim and if so, was it a positive outcome?

Sun damage? Only thing I can think of. I have a 2008 with alcantara centre and leather outer. Leather just about starting to crack a little.

2023 van that has covered 13,400 km... I'm disappointed tbh. Dealer chat on Thursday.

I have a 2023 with Alcantara and about 16,000km and all seats still look as new. I do use a cover on the drivers seat some of the time but only a lightweight one.
Don’t ever recall such an issue being raised on this forum previously.
Strange that it’s both seats too, and that maybe points to a poorly manufactured batch.

Good luck with the dealer chat.

Well that went nowhere at the dealers. Very disappointing but sort of understandable. Disappointing in that it's failed at 13,400kms.

The damage on the seat is mid thigh on both front seats, not anywhere near rivets that are on jeans rear pockets (not that my jeans have any).

Apparently according to my dealer it's "caused by my trousers" and no warranty claim.
Options:
Beg VW for a goodwill offer
Re-upholster both front seats at the local vehicle interior emporium.

Lets see how we go.
