The water tap over the sink on our late 2019 ocean broke recently - the rotating tap lever came away from the fixing and the inside was broken so it couldn't be mended. I've looked at previous threads but this is a different problem - it's the tap lever that's broken not the water pipe bit and it won't just push back on, the plastic inside is broken in such a way that it no longer works.

We've ordered a replacement from the shop, my question is has anyone here replaced the tap unit themselves and if so was it straightforward and fairly obvious how to do it? Especially the electrical connection. Any advice welcome. Thanks!

Very easy its just plug n play with a connector that pulls apart

Hi, thought I'd add a quick update - thanks for your encouragement, we've now replaced the tap. It was relatively straightforward/obvious, just a bit tricky to get at. The only hard bit was getting the plastic nut off the old one but we found a friend with a sink wrench which did the trick.

My local Campervan dealer provided an alternative tap, a third the price and so far just as good. Fitting very straightforward.

I have a cali ocean 2019 and i ran into the same problem.
Who is the oem for these taps ?

The Forum shop has a generic replacement tap at a 1/3 rd the cost of the genuine VW replacement tap.

There was a tap change mid 2018 and as the OP’s vehicle is a 2019, this one may not fit as his 2019 tap appears identical to the T6.1 tap that I have.
The shop notes the generic tap will not fit a T6.1 but also indicates compatible only pre 2018.vehicles.
“None Genuine replacement tap for the VW California, T4, T5 and T6 – this tap will not fit on the T6.1

This tap is a ideal replacement for the T4, T5, T6 (<2018) ”

Would suggest checking with the supplier before purchase.

Loads of guides on this job on here with photos etc.

Amazon, same generic replacement £18.

I don't understand what is different between T6 and T6.1, certainly comet hasn't changed its specification in years, the only variable is the diameter of the hole in the sink.
