Sadly my dog chewed the edge of my left hand side sliding kitchen window panel.

I’ve done a temporary repair with glue to make the window watertight.

I want to replace the chewed sliding window panel only.

My local VW garage are asking for a look before quoting as they want see if they need to remove the kitchen (as well as ordering the correct part - I have privacy glass).

I was hoping a panel exchange might be quite straightforward.

Specifically for a kitchen side sliding panel replacement only in a T6.1 can anyone advise on how easy this is to fit? Also can this be done without major disruption to the kitchen?

Thanks

Phil

A photo would help.

Thanks. This is the near side kitchen window panel I want to replace. My dog who chewed it is in the other picture!

I don’t believe you can purchase just the sliding section on its own.
A genuine replacement window + sliding panel seems to cost about £500 or so.
Obviously you don’t have to remove and replace the whole window, just swap over the sliding section.

But is it worth it. I’m sure the marks could be filled and painted.

You are right but my dog also slightly chewed the rubber seal that helps keep water out. I also love my van and am currently planning on keeping it long term (don’t want a T7).

If I was doing a DIY repair I’d ideally remove the panel to repair it so it would still be great to have tips on how easy it is to remove the window panel without disrupting the kitchen.

I’m going to visit my local VW van centre but in advance of this any advice on if potentially removing the kitchen is genuinely necessary would be great.

Ps the photo I posted is after a temporary repair with glue. It was actually possible to see daylight through the side of the frame after the damage (with quite a bit of missing plastic).

I’m not necessarily looking for perfection but would like to return the van to long term waterproof.
