I'm going to need 4 new tyres soon and thinking about some new wheels as well.

Two questions.

A) What do people do with their old wheels?

B) Is it normal to buy 5 new wheels or retain the spare Aracaju for emergency use

Most have a steel wheel as a spare, fitted with a part worn tyre to deter those who collect spare wheels.

Check your existing spare - it's likely to be a 17" steel rim. Another consideration is that the spare carrier won't take a tyre wider than 235 - just in case you were thinking of pimping your van with some fat alloys and tyres!, so if you get a flat, that wheel is coming inside the van with you until you can get it fixed

Bizarrely the spare wheel is a full fat Aracaju. I assumed they all came like that??

Nope! - my wheels as supplied were Aracaju, the spare is a steel 17" I specked the van with all weather tyres, maybe that made a difference. My previous T6 had davenport alloys and a steel spare. Seems you're just a better class of customer than me!

I also specced the all weather tyres. Better hope VW don't see this they'll be wanting an additional payment!!!

I also specced all weather and got 5 Aracaju after being told I would get a steel 5th wheel.

Are looking for somewhere to store the Aracaju without tyres rather than sell them, that is what I might do but then I have several garages.

I don't really want to store them but wondering if I sell or scrap them if it might be a negative at sale with non standard wheels and a different spare...

I could possibly store them if necessary...

I would say that a genuine Ocean with non standard alloys leans into the aftermarket conversion look so may be an issue when selling? Especially if you go for fat 19"s etc. Maybe store the originals for resale? Or if you just want bigger, find some original VW's that are bigger than your standards. Or, just get what you want and enjoy them!
