Hey folks,

Since I rarely sit in the back, with aircon on full in the back, can you feel it strong like the front?

(Checking the vents at the top - neither feel like they work that great)

Coming from a conversion previous, genuinely no idea if this is normal or not

Cheers!

My rear controller is faulty and it turned the air on on full in the back and you could feel it in the front seats blowing very cold air all round the interior.

You can vary the settings for the back.

I think ours is faulty / or not working as expected, we feel no air from to top rear vents no matter how fast the fan is set, it just comes out by the floor, think will get it checked when we get time but not in a massive rush..

Yeah that’s what we are seeing. Even on max ac and level 7 it still doesn’t feel like I’d expect.

Even on setting 7 doesn’t really feel like any fan speed with ac max
On my Multivan you can direct the flow to the vents or windows. any such setting for the rear on the California?

Mines a beach so no 3 zone aircon but does have separate screens / settings for front and rear and rear has 2 top vents on the left, 2 top vents on the right (not shown here) and floor vents by the seats.. The rear ac screen shows air coming from the top either side and I think the floor..

I presume you have adjusted the knurled control above the vents?
We get some airflow from the top but not much - it does cool down in the back eventually but it’s not quick like the front - just unsure what the normal in the back actually is.

Setting 7 in the back didn’t really feel like any difference

Yes tried all that on all of them, no difference.. ‍♂️
I don't have a Multivan based California but the Multivan Style with 3 Zone Climatronic so you can have separate temperatures in the cab ,L and R, and the Rear and my system controls are very different to yours.
On the more basic Multivan Life the rear system does not include AirCon Cooling just ambient to hot only.
The 3 zone Climatronic was a paid for Option.

Ok cool, thanks, that may explain it, just also did a search and it seems to suggest as you say the top vents are for heating or ambient air, but it did also suggest the bottom vent by the seat / floor may actually work, but due to it's placement its' not great so you may need to turn the rear fan up quite a bit to get anything usefully cool from it so will have a play next time, cheers again

Are you thinking you should have paid the extra for the climatic system to cope with the heat? I know it's very subjective on the T6.1 beach so interested in your experiences, thanks!

No I bought a stock vehicle, got it within days etc, so no choice to spec up different, I wanted towbar and anything else was a bonus. The AC thing was unknown to me tbh, but our trip to France the other month with the kids in the back was no real issue and neither have been other hot uk days. It would be nice to have AC in the rear, had I known I may have picked a different van as had the choice of 4 or 5 that had tow bar but hey go, no regrets and loving our trips.

My main concern was more was it a fault and did we need to take it to the dealer as I did not know at the time it didn’t have it in the rear. Our other cars have climate, but we never tend to set left and right to different temps as I don’t think it really works that well in practice in such a small space, so not fussed about not having climate for that as the interface is still digital but slightly sad we didn’t realise it would not have it in the rear at all as that is more useful that setting left and right to different temps for us, although as said in practice is probably not the end of the world.
