Quick question: has anyone traveled in Portugal with a cargo box mounted on a tailgate-mounted bike rack?
I’ve come across a rule stating it can protrude a maximum of 45 cm from the tailgate; mine currently sticks out 60 cm.
Does anyone have experience with this (checks, fines) or more information?
Are there any Portuguese members here on the forum who know more about this?
The metal box is fixed rock-solid and cannot be easily removed: it's hanging with two hooks and is secured with bolts passing through a bike channel, I drilled holes in them. The straps are only there to keep the handles from flapping.
The 50 x 50 cm warning sign with three red reflective stripes is already attached
