Passenger door won’t lock

I have a T5 Cali and the passenger door won’t lock. If I use the key fob or the button on the drivers door the drivers door and sliding door lock as usual but the passenger door doesn’t. The little button on the passenger door is permanently up in open position and won’t go down in lock position. Any ideas before I ask a garage to take a look?

New lock or strip the lock open and change the drive motor.

I've did 3 on my Landrover, and 2 on the Volvo....a colleague has had 2 locks changed on a VW Beetle. Common problem.

The last one I changed the motor at £11 in lieu of a £200 lock. The lock used to be circa £90 in 2017

I’ve had my van 12 years and it’s the first time the passenger door lock has broken.
I have however, had to have the sliding door lock replaced recently.

What makes me laugh is that VAG will charge £180 to diagnose the problem, even though they know what the problem is.

This motor stops working as the electrical contacts become contaminated. Easy change / swap out if you have some mechanical knowledge.

I still wake up screaming from the hvac flap position motor I swapped on my Golf a while ago.
Buried up behind the dash out of sight!!!! Guts of it look identical to that pic.

I have to service my Volvo XC70 soon ......the pollen filter is PITA x 1000..... I can do the oil / oil filter and fuel filter in the same time......
