Van packed and ready to head off up to Wales last Friday . Started and it stopped after a few seconds and wouldn't catch. Had just started it, moved it off the drive, and parked it across the road to allow packing.

Fire up the laptop and a P1603 self test failed error and a battery regulator error (battery draw / drain) . Cleared and it started up on the "button". Left it running for 15mins whilst the Mrs decanted everything across to the Volvo. (Main battery / leisure batteries at 12.4volts when I came back on the Sunday)

Unusual error code with the starting point being low voltage. I noted that I had left the fridge on the last 6days and the leisure battery down at 12.3v during the first start. And when I came back the A/C was also on.

Only other thing to note was numerous starts and stops on that day, and the previous two days. Probably 8 or 10 with very little driven distance. So I can accept low voltage, however battery cracking power was excellent as per a new battery.

All seems fine regarding other checks / cable / fuses / connections etc.

Put it on hookup and I had a flashing heater icon so it didn't charge Sunday night. Now reset.... Leisure batteries at 10years old, so possibly time to change

P1603 is commonly associated with the Immobiliser not being recognised . The vehicle starts but then stalls after a few seconds.
How old is the Remote battery?

Interesting WG as that was my first thought!!!!! I spent a few hours on the weekend Googling the code and didn't find any links to this. Also the doors seemed to lock as well which I didn't mention but thought odd and maybe I caught the button on the door?

Cant recall when I changed the battery to be honest and ironically I've just changed the batteries in the Volvo (dash warning) and BMW (dash warning also).....but the VW....nope cant recall. Volvo and BMW eat the batteries (annual for the Volvo / slightly longer for the BMW)

I have one CR2032 left and a Volvo bigger version so will swap it over as a precaution.

Cheers!

Cheers WG....I sort of forgot about that after Googling, so changed them tonight in both key fobs, when you highlighted it. On the basis that they were both Panosonic and I dont use the spare, I would say they were original at 10years old.

As far as I am aware the Transporter doesn’t give a Battery warning for the Remote.
