Oh deer

Hit an adult fallow deer at close to 60mph on the A380 Telegraph Hill this morning. Road was pretty busy already and it was way past dawn so was surprised to see 3 deer leap out about 20 metres in front of me , couldn't avoid them all in the 0.something seconds I had to react



I don't think this will polish out. Vehicle behaved impeccably, it probably jammed on the brakes fractionally before I pressed my foot down, very stable while swerving.

I've been driving that road for 25 years, anyone else local will know it's notorious for deer by the roadside though it's quite rare to have a full on collision. So grateful to have been in the California. In a lower car there's a good chance it would have come up over the bonnet and through the windscreen...

A dreadful road with appalling standards of driving as well as the deer to look out for. I’m glad you are ok, it must have been quite traumatic for you. I can recommend Torbay car hospital for repairs if that’s any help. Fantastic quality of workmanship. Goid luck in getting it sorted out.

I believe not if you hit it, the person behind is allowed to help themselves. Same with pheasants and other game. Don’t ask me how I know…

If you want a dreadful road, try the A1 in Northumberland. The failure of successive governments to dual it (because its in the northern 'wilderness') means it is like suicide alley. God know how many deaths this year already!

Thankfully it paused and there wasn’t a collision.
I would have been totally gutted if we had hit it. Not
Least the fact the car has only done 600 miles.
You seem remarkably calm from your post I would have have been very upset had it been our Cali.

Yeah, our California had 860 miles on the clock.

I am quite calm, I guess, so much crap going on in the world and so many people having a tougher time than me. I think it's affecting my other half more, she's the camping evangelist.
